Grape Varietals

Vermentino

Vermentino-Grape

Casamatta-Bianco-Vermentino-Blend

A white grape variety primarily found in the Italian wines generally is found to ripen late compared to other varieties. These grapes are amber-yellow coloured and normally hang in pyramidal bunches. These grapes are often grown on slopes facing the sea where they can benefit from the additional reflected light.

The wines produced from Vermentino mainly include sweet and sparkling variants but it can offer a refreshing change of pace from the more common Pinot GrigiosChardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs.

Interesting Facts

Food pairings include fresh seafood, oysters on the half shell, or grilled Mediterranean vegetables.

A recent DNA typing has confirmed that Vermentino is identical to the ‘Pigato’ of Liguria and ‘Favoria’ of Piedmont.
